21-108 Consider a request from Southern Methodist University to change the Zoning District Classifications within the area bounded by McFarlin Boulevard, University Boulevard, Airline Road and Dublin Street. Current Zoning is Single Family-4 and UC-2. The requested zoning classifications are for University Campus Districts UC-1, UC-2, and UC-3.
The requested zoning classifications are far too permissive to be approved in proximity to the existing single family classification. It is much more appropriate to provide zoning change with a planned development classification since this is adjacent to residential neighborhood. A planned development classification requires community input for future changes. This is congruent with the partner relationship held by SMU and University Park.
